I grew up in Orange County In the shadow of a mouse Watched the sky light up From the rooftop of my house
Things seemed so subtle Off Katella Avenue Living in a city With so many things to do
This is a town where nothing goes This is a town where a mind can't grow This kind of town gets in your face This is a town like any other place Again, I'm losing again
I went to a shrink, I was so messed up 10 hours of therapy, 1500 bucks I asked him, doctor whats the matter with me? He said, you're an addict, it's so plain to see
This is a town where they kiss and tell This is a town that I know too well This kind of town gets in your face This is a town like any other place
 Again, I'm losing again

Spring Break 1987 Kids out of school, they're in seventh heaven For one short week nothing's out of reach They make their way down to Balboa Beach
Boys look for girls, girls look for boys Showing off their cars and making lots of noise Words on the Fun*zone, no one can deny it There's a mob of restless kids looking for a riot
There's a Riot! Riot! Riot! Riot at the beach!!!!
Labor Day weekend '86 O.P. surfer pros doin' their tricks The heat and booze seem to stir the tension Bikini contest got the crowd's attention
Next thing you know cars are overturned Windows broken, buildings burned All because a bimbo gave the crowd a little peak Who'd ever think that would cause a riot on the beach
There's a Riot! Riot! Riot! Riot at the beach!!!!

Woke up in the lock up Thinking I was knocked up I was a just a walk up They rolled me right in Strapped on a stretcher Without a letter How can I get better? They wanna take me Reactivate me Reanimate me Rehabilitate me Wanna rewrite me Wanna ignite me Wanna put everything Gonna put everything right It's 5150 or fight It’s no vacation Regurgitation There's no elation In mental castration Incarceration No hesitation No motivation They wanna take me Reactivate me Reanimate me Rehabilitate me Wanna rewrite me Wanna ignite me Gonna put everything Gonna put everything right 5150 or fight 5150 or fight 5150 or fight Gave me crayons and told me to draw Anything I wanted that was the straw That broke this monkey's back Won’t go without a fight 5150 or fight

Just because It's hard to jerk with tiny hands You saw the police at 7/11 You grabbed my pussy Golf's a game for suckas
Just because Just because Just because fuck you
Just because They won't pay for a goddamn wall No one builds them better than you Bad hombres down there Rose Garden Massacre!

She looked at me like she was a kitten with a whip in a sandbox Forward thinking, strutting‚ slinking with her claws out She asked me if I was high I didn’t answer If she couldn’t figure it out‚ well I guess it doesn’t matter
I locked onto her eyes real tight like a cross-hair radar Brown-green sparkling moonshine in the drive-in starlight But to her I was just another Southside stoner Just another mischief-maker from Hobo Junction Well‚ I saw God at the drive-in movie I saw God at the picture show Life is so easy in the backseat of a Chevy Life is so complicated when the credits go up Lost on Highway 39
Outta my mind  On highway 39

I climbed into the trunk, we drove past her mom’s house Snuck in through the backdoor quiet as a mouse She asked, “Do you love me?” I didn’t answer If she couldn’t figure it out‚ well I guess it doesn’t matter
Outta my mind On highway 39

Clipped your wings so you wouldn't fly Taught you to cop an alibi To cover your tracks, and when to deny At the drop of a hat, they taught you to lie Queen of Denial Queen of Queen of Denial You're the silver queen On the fake news scene Kids die while he's on the putting green We didn't ask for a go-between Feed us the truth not the war machine Queen of Denial Clipped your wings so you wouldn't fly Taught you to cop an alibi To cover your tracks, and when to deny At the drop of a hat, they taught you to lie Queen of Denial

Ten minutes till it's twelve o'clock It's when the hammer drops Cyanide in the chamber Until the heartbeat stops
The last breath (dying breath) Of a dying democracy Pax Americana From sea to shining sea
 Lockdown America
Solution in this land Is sweep it under the rug Lock it in a cell
 Lockdown America
Lock him in a cage Strip him of his soul One lash a time
March him up a hill Fit him with a crown One lash a time
 Lockdown America

My Self-help guru Jumped off of a bridge With Static magnificence I’m out on a ledge
I’m in shock I’m in shock Big Rock Shock
I need to scream A scream isn’t enough This scream comes from a place We never wanted to be Life gives us so much We forget how lucky we are Until we’ve been robbed Of the things that matter the most

The high court of disorder decrees The statute of the sea Marketing Surf City For some, but not for thee
Barricade the border - Hide up in the hills Stare down the mighty coast as you dive into the pills Take a little ride, it's a Roller coastal thrill Raise your glasses high and celebrate the kill
Yeah, come on, waste away The California dream Is just a wave away When you own the sea
Slap on a happy smile, we got a shirt to sell Hide the thickest waist - hide the money smell Council needs a taste before they go to hell Bury Santa Cruz in time to catch the swell
Barricade the borders - Hide up in the hills Stare down the mighty coast as you dive into the pills Take a little ride, it's a Roller coastal thrill Raise your glasses high and celebrate the kill
Yeah, come on, waste away The California dream Is just a wave away When you own the sea
 In Serf City USA
Yeah, come on, waste away The California dream Can't you smell the money? It’s so obscene Serf City USA

This is a pointless teenage anthem About how great things used to be The kind that tugs your heartstrings Like rhythmic atrophy A pointless teenage anthem We're not allowed to grow Past the pointless teenage tantrums Like the kind I used to throw Round, round, round Just keep spinning around Down, down, down Spinning upside down Pound, pound, pound Pound it to the ground Sound, sound, sound Like its something new they've found A pointless teenage anthem Is what they expect from me To hold on to the youth they lost In 1983 A pointless teenage anthem To keep the old school young So they can slam around and round Lament what they've become A pointless teenage anthem Really shouldn't be too tough I've written fifty other ones More than enough So here's a toast to happiness To life and liberty Life's a blast, throw off the past Irresponsibility

about

Caesar Salad Days is the eleventh Adolescents album. It is a pre-pandemic product of the pandemic. The songs were written before the pandemic, and recorded in the middle - sometime during May 2022. They are revisits of songs released over the last 35 years. A sampler, of sorts. --Tony
